Country Cooking Month: More
I can't find a specific food holiday for June 30, so we will celebrate my favorite cuisine, good ole country cooking.
Tomorrow's food holiday will be 'Country Cooking Month'.
[The Hankster says] I can't find a specific food holiday for June 30, so we will celebrate my favorite cuisine, good ole country cooking. And I plan to do a lot of eating to make up for the whole month.
We have three days tomorrow that might require some liniment for your neck tomorrow:
- 'Sky Day'.
[The Hankster says] Look up and enjoy the sky. Maybe you can renew your cloud imaging skills from your youth.
- 'National Meteor Watch Day'.
[The Hankster says] Look up and enjoy the night sky. Maybe a Rocky Mountain High is in store for you.
- 'Asteroid Day'.
[The Hankster says] Remembers the day in 1908 when a meteor or comet hit and devastated the Tunguska area of Russia.
Tomorrow is 'Social Media Day'. Since 2010 by Mashable.com.
Don't forget that tomorrow is 'Leap Second Time Adjustment Day'. From Wikipedia: 'A leap second is a one-second adjustment that is occasionally applied to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in order to keep its time of day close to the mean solar time, or UT1.
Without such a correction, time reckoned by Earth's rotation drifts away from atomic time because of irregularities in the Earth's rate of rotation.
Since this system of correction was implemented in 1972, 25 such leap seconds have been inserted. The most recent one happened on June 30, 2012 at 23:59:60 UTC. A leap second, the 26th, will again be inserted at the end of June 30, 2015 at 23:59:60 UTC. '.
[The Hankster says] Mixed feelings. I'm glad that something besides me is slowing down a little. At the same time (no pun) I hate waiting until midnight to move my clock back one measly second. I am fortunate, in that I don't have many clocks that display UTC. I have still to determine how my egg timer will be effected. On second thought I may just use the 25 seconds since 1972 like air miles or credit points. I wonder if that would invalidate my place in the insurance mortality tables?
Couldn't find any awareness days either.
