National Blueberry Muffin Day: More
Tomorrow July 11 2014 is a full day.
In previous posts I mention 7-Eleven's free Slurpee day and Chick-fil-A's free meal (if you are willing to dress like a cow), for 'Cow Appreciation Day'
To continue our celebration of food, tomorrow is also 'National Blueberry Muffin Day' and 'National Rainier Cherry Day'. I hope you picked a lot of blueberries today on 'Pick Blueberries Day'. You can turn the left overs in to a delicious breakfast meal, or in my case a mid-night snack. Hey, it takes a lot of energy to type all this stuff.
Lets make sure all those camera's and cell phones are charged up. Tomorrow will also be 'All American Pet Photo Day'. Lets' flood the social media with those pics.
We will also take notice of ' World Population Day' and specifically '5 Billion Day'. "July 11, 1987. An eight-pound baby boy, Matej Gaspar, born at 1:35 AM, EST, at Zagreb, Yugoslavia, was proclaimed the five billionth inhabitant of Earth".
What about Six Billion (October 12 1999) and Seven Billion (October 31 2011) and
Eight Billion (Estimated for 2024).
For you classic car lovers tomorrow is 'National Collector Car Appreciation Day'.
Here is a good way to put your talents to work, even if you feel you don't have any particular talent. It will be 'Cheer Up the Lonely Day'. A smile and a few minutes of your time and a sincere interest in the welfare of someone who for whatever reason is by themselves, is all you need. There have been a lot of positive studies with residents of retirement homes and such, as to the effect of visiting pets. If your Fido or Kitty is well behaved and you check first, why not spend a few hours
cheering up those who want to receive
and give some affection. You probably won't have to look far to find an opportunity.
Today in 1962 we launch the communications satellite Telstar. Tomorrow in 1979 the Australians had occasion to 'duck and cover' as the US space station, Skylab, crashed back to Earth, scattering debris over Western Australia and the Indian Ocean. No one hurt.
